Mona Butler

Home Up Mona Butler attended schools in Washington, DC, studied at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and received degrees from the University of Southern California (B.M. '79)and Northwestern University (M.M. '84). Ms. Butler's study of bassoon was primarily influenced by Norman Herzberg, Mordechai Rechtman, Willard Elliot, and Leonard Sharrow.  

Prior to settling in Seattle Ms. Butler performed with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Grand Teton Festival Orchestra and held positions with the Israel Chamber, Jerusalem Symphony, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestras. Currently  Principal Bassoonist and Librarian of the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Auburn Symphony Orchestras, Mona Butler has called Seattle home for 15 years. She also performs regularly with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera and Northwest Chamber Orchestras.
