KANSA Wind Quintet
KANSA was founded in 1997 by clarinetist Ted Lane as an attempt to fill the need for more quality chamber music in the Rio Grande Valley. KANSA, meaning "Wind People", ![]() soon established itself as the most versatile ensemble in the valley performing quality music for audiences of all ages. From the concert stage to educational performances, KANSA also provides a variety of performances for commercial events throughout this growing community. Since its inception, KANSA has thrilled hundreds of listeners with its innovative programming and excitingly unique approach to music education. Each musician performs with the Valley Symphony Orchestra and is on call for the most demanding instrumental performances throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Each of the five members holds music degrees from some of the most prestigious universities and conservatories throughout the United States. Kansa released its first Compact Disk last fall and plans a future CD release in the coming months. KANSA is proud to be a part of this growing community and hopes to provide quality music crucial to our cultural advancement.
