Stan Jeffs , Trombone

The 2002 season of the Bellingham Music Festival marks the fourth season of Mr. Jeffs' participation with the American Sinfonietta.

A native of Seattle, Mr. Jeffs attended the New England Conservatory of Music. As a freelance musician in Boston, he performed with many ensembles, including Versailles Brass and the Boston Civic Orchestra. He also performed as an auxilliary musician in the Boston Pops Esplanade and Boston Symphony Orchestras, the latter in which he toured and played in the recording of Mahler's Eighth Symphony.

Currently living in Seattle, Mr. Jeffs is the founder of Cascadia Brass, a chamber music group, which appears in concerts and at special events throughout the Northwest. He is a member of Cathedral Brass, a quartet at St. James Cathedral in Seattle and the Fifth Avenue Theatre Orchestra. Other ensemble work includes performances with the orchestras of the Paramount Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Auburn Symphony.

In addition to his private instruction, Mr. Jeffs is the low brass instructor for the Endangered Instruments Program, sponsored by the Seattle Youth Symphony Organization. He also participates in the Marrowstone in the City Summer Music Program. He has served as interim trombone instructor at the University of Washington. His primary trombone instructors are Dennis Smith, Norman Bolter and John Swallow.

Married and with two cats, he enjoys watching the History and Speed channels, jogging, and is an amateur astronomer wanna-be. His passions include water color painting, airshows, and conversing with other Coinstar (ticker symbol cstr)-crazed fanatics on the Yahoo Message boards.
